Apple Dumplings

Given By: Myrna Anderson
Preparation Time: -
Serving Size: -
  • 16 to 20 apples, peeled and quartered
  • 1 c. water
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. margerine
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 2 1/2 c. flour
  • 1/2 c. Crisco
  • 4 tsp. baking powder
  • 3/4 c. milk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Boil ingredients for 5 minutes and set aside.

Mix flour and baking powder; cut in Crisco and add milk to which vanilla has been added. Roll out dough very thin and cut into pieces to make dumplings. Place 4 to 5 apple pieces and sprinkle a little sugar on each dough square. Form a dumpling with dough, sealing edges. Doug is to be thin and need not completely cover apples; just so it can hold together and be placed in a baking pan.

Pour syrup over dumplings and bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes.
