Teriyaki Burger

Burger

  • 1.25 to 1.5 lbs ground beef
  • 1/4 cup grated carrots
  • 1/4 cup chopped scallions
  • 1/8 tsp ginger
  • 2 tsp soy sauce
  • 1/2 tsp sriracha sauce
  • 4 slices fresh pineapple
  • lettuce
  • burger buns

Pineapple teriyaki sauce

  • 1/2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup pineapple juice
  • 3 Tbsp brown sugar
  • 1/8 tsp ginger
  • 1 garlic clove, minced

Peel carrots and grate. Combine ground beef, carrots, scallions, ginger, soy sauce, and sriracha sauce. Make 4 patties to desired sizes, then press down in the center with your thumb to prevent bulging. Slice fresh pineapple, then set pineapple slices and burger patties aside.

Combine cornstarch and water in a bowl, allow to dissolve, then set aside. In a saucepan, mix soy sauce, pineapple juice, brown sugar, ginger, and garlic. Slowly bring to a boil and simmer until sauce reduces, 8 to 12 minutes. Add cornstarch and water mixture and simmer until thick, 1 to 2 minutes. Remove from heat and set sauce aside to cool.

Preheat the grill, then grill patties to desired doneness. Grill the pineapple slices 2 to 3 minutes per side over direct medium heat. Serve on toasted buns with lettuce, burger, pineapple, and sauce.
