Land Desktop 3 Install Notes

The notes below are specific to installing Autodesk Land Desktop 3 for users with the Mattingly Group.

1. install LDD3 from cd as usual
2. install Civil Design from cd as usual
3. install Survey from cd as usual
4. apply LDD3 Service Pack 1 (requires LDD3 cd)
5. apply LDD3 Service Pack 2 (requires LDD3 cd)
6. apply Civil Design Service Pack 1 (requires Civil Design cd)
7. apply add/remove program space fix (.vbs - visual basic script)
8. install PDFCreator (a printer will automatically be added)
9. copy plotter configuration files to C:\Program Files\Land Desktop 3\Plotters
   • .pc3 files for Generic PostScript Printer, Color PostScript Printer, and PDFCreator Printer
10. copy plot styles to C:\Program Files\Land Desktop 3\Plot Styles
    • .ctb and .stb files for monochrome, acad, etc…
11. create a new Generic PostScript Printer:
    • install Adobe Universal Postscript Windows Driver Installer (Winsteng.exe, English, 1.0.6 or higher)

12. create a new Color Postscript Printer:
    • add printer, local port, File:(print to file), driver: Apple Color LW 12/660 PS
13. install Express Tools - follow instructions inside zip file

1. setup a Z: drive, mapped to your desktop
   • plot all drawings to the Z: drive with one of the 3 above printers only
   • plot all drawings “to file”, as a .plt file
   • the .plt file will be a postscript file which can be made into a pdf by using PDFCreator (program, not printer) or Adobe Distiller
2. setup a P: drive, mapped to your main drawings folder
3. setup our company templates
   • create a template folder to hold your drawings (P:\_Templates)
   • copy all company templates into this folder
   • Tools → Options → Files (tab) → Drawing Template File Location: P:\_Templates
